2009 GOLF EVENT RAISES NEARLY $30,000 FOR On With Life
Golf Outing Photo GalleryThe 3rd Annual On With Life Golf Outing held on Monday, July 13th at Briarwood Club of Ankeny was a fun day for all who attended and a big financial success for the On With Life Foundation. Because of the generosity of our sponsors, golfers, diners and auction participants, we were able to raise almost $30,000 for On With Life. With the funds raised we will be able to purchase specialized therapeutic equipment and enhancements that speed the recovery and improve the comfort of those being served at our On With Life programs. None of this would have been possible without your generous support.
It was a warm sunny day, perfect for an afternoon on the golf course. And the evening was equally nice for the dinner, auction and program. A special thank you is due to Lindsay Ose for her entertaining presentation on her view of rehabilitation at On With Life from the inside, and to the Ose Family for their continued support.
A highlight of this year’s event was the announcement of what will become an annual tradition, the awarding of the “Swanson Award” given to the individual(s) who contributed the most to making the outing a success for the Foundation. The first recipient is Dr. Thomas Carlstrom, a neurosurgeon who has been with the Iowa Clinic for over 28 years, and is a founding member of On With Life and also of the Central Area Support Group of the Brain Injury Association. Tom and his wife, Barb, were instrumental in developing the inaugural event, and each year work diligently to secure sponsorships, silent auction donations and golfers. The Swanson Award is named in honor of Tyler Swanson, who was served by our Ankeny Rehabilitation program, and his family, Cal, Cindy and Taylor, whose initiative and generosity set the wheels in motion for this annual event.
The Foundation wants to thank the volunteers on the golf committee for all of their hard work: Barb Carlstrom, Darlene Coomes, Earl Dunsbergen, Sally Harris, Kay Hines and Margi Weiss. We would like to acknowledge the work of our board members, staff and friends who helped make this event a success and a special thank you to Tyler for once again helping us raise money at the Beat the Survivor Challenge Hole.
We want to thank our sponsors whose generous support of this event made it all possible:
